A minor chord killer instrumental - the corpus of all the Family Man sounds. It is also a monumental piece of the Wailers Band. Like Eastern Memphis, this is one of the most talked about Family Man masterpiece. It clearly shows Family Man’s musical versatility not only as a bassist, but as a master musician. Although funnily enough it was the time when Jamaica was largely dominated by Deejays and Dancehall, the world famous Wailers Band never betrayed their fans by tightly keeping their “Wailers Sound”. It is a pleasure to listen to the strong belief and confidence in their music.

Recorded at the same session as Cobra Style, this is a peace and love instrumental that touches your heartstrings. Perhaps designed by Family Man himself, this is a piece to chill out after being done by the killer, Cobra Style as it was originally recorded on the B-side of the same 12” – a must have for the owner of the latter. Although the instrumentals have traditionally been recorded since the 60’s, due to the cut down on the recording cost, it started to diminish since the end of the 70’s and it was really rare to see them in the 80’s, so that make it an undoubtedly precious and prestige instrumental. Comparing this to Cobra Style, there could be an endless discussion arguing which one is better however since they have such different musical concepts to each other, leave them alone to appreciate the true listening experience.

Invaluable hard Dancehall steppers by Family Man produced in the twilight of the Digital era.The Ragga sound at its peak after the Digital Revolution, Family Man still remains to be the trusted person of influence. His iconic hard steppers style bass line is non exceptional at this era, so deep like in immovability like a mountain. Ashanti Wah recorded this piece a few times after, however none of them comes even as close as this cut. Officially first time to be released as a single.

Simply put, THE most underrated Wackie's album, and the best one you might not have heard. Originally released in 1982, "I'm For You, I'm For Me" was the debut album from Wackie's studio stalwart musician and singer Jerry Harris (oddly nicknamed "Jerry Hitler" back then). The original LP carried a deceptive cover, featuring only the headshot of a jheri curled Jerry, which suggested a slick soul or disco album, and belied the mostly hard roots reggae tracks contained therein. We had always intended to re-release this album, as five of the ten tracks were in our favored tough and murky Wackie's roots style. But before we got around to it, and in doing the diligence we do, we dug deep and came across the previously unreleased dub versions for the album, plus one more killer vocal cut that didn't make the original LP. So the choice seemed clear, to modify this great album into an all killer no filler roots reggae showcase LP in the classic style, so here it is. You might notice we switched up the cover art as well, reconfiguring the original design elements from the great former Wackie's graphic designer Leslie A. Moore.

Beautifully shinning golden female Lover's Rock.At this time, the Wailers band didn't play much of those sweet love songs, however this 7” definitely proves Familyman’s versatile musical orientation. A truly tight rhythm section beautifully blends with this rather unknown singer’s superb voice making these nothing but a masterpiece. A heart calming double-sider.

The triumphant return of the famous Channel 1 showdown series, 30 years later! Two of our favorite artists, Frankie Jones and Midnight Riders, finally sharing the spotlight, and the first LP release for the Riders! Featuring 10 songs, 5 from each artist, 9 tracks produced by George "Tasha" Nicholson and one track produced by Channel 1. The Frankie Jones side features four rare cuts produced by Tasha, and the previously unreleased "Gone Farming" (a duet with Michael Palmer!), produced by Channel 1 and known to some astute dubplate fiends. The Midnight Riders side features two previously unreleased tunes, the rare second version of "Youthman Invasion" (different to the one we released on Tasha 7" a few years ago!), the very rare "Living In Hell", and the classic "Illegal Gun." The sleeve is adorned with fantastic photographs of the artists and Channel 1 studio by Beth Lesser and Syphilia Morgenstierne.

The finest instrumental dub that deserves the name, Familyman and the Rebel Arms. A piece never really got released back then.It is Familyman’s specialty to express his infinite creativity on instrumentals. As expected, he easily achieved higher dimension with these two minimalistically structured pieces. Nothing but a Familyman’s sound played by no other than the Wailers band themselves. In addition, he may have played this superb synthesizer himself.Guaranteed you won’t hear this sort of sound anywhere else.

Jackie Mittoo’s all time classic interpreted deadly by Familyman, backed with the one off style instrumental accompanied by astonishingly cool chant.It would never be possible to mass-produce this kind of highly creative and artistic piece by mainstream producers. This would only have happened by the world’s top class band that they are.

A fundamental album released in 1966 that determined the way Rocksteady was going to journey. In 1966, Rude Boys were at the peak of the fame with their notorious behaviors, while Ska gradually started to slow down its tempo. This album paved the way for a newborn music, Rocksteady, with rather slower and tighter rhythm approach. This album should be considered as one of the ten most important albums in Reggae history. The descent from Ska, which had its derivation from Jazz or Rhythm and Blues, to Rocksteady, with its various potential elements which would be passed to the next decade of Reggae, has been allegedly created in this album with Trinidadian guitarist Lynn Taitt and his band The Jets as the backing band. Entitled “Take It Easy With The Rock Steady Beat!”, most of the tunes featured in this album were written for praising dancehall as if he’d have known this genre was going to rule the dance floors. Among the tunes in this album, “This Music Got Soul” was the coolest of all and called out the dawn of the Rocksteady era. This tune had a huge influence on the future developments of Reggae music.

The Wailers have recorded a number of tunes for Studio One, however this release still gets talked a lot as its specialty. Recorded just before they left Studio One, this double A-sided single includes two of the best tunes that lead by Bunny Wailer himself. It’s even possible to hear in this excellent music that the time has come to ripen for the band to see the vision of starting up their own Wail ‘N’ Soul ’M’ label. Both sides are identical to its original release.

This is the quintessence of the Wailers lead by Familyman, playing a killer horn instrumental and the dubwise. Arguably one of the most accomplished reggae instrumentals to date. The Wailers consisting of the Barrett brothers is without a doubt the number one band of the era, showcasing their full confidence which later gets praised by the entire world. The bold and courageous, yet ambitious and highly spirited, everything you need to get out of the Caribbean ghetto to the world is heard in this miraculous recording.

Judy Mowatt used to form a group called the Gaylettes in her early career although she is known for touring all over the world as a member of I Threes and the Wailers. 'Silent River Runs Deep' is the most known song and a hit for the group. 'I Like Your World' was also originally released on the A-side of another record released on Merritone label. Those recordings of this double A-sided single are certainly great enduring female Rocksteady songs of all time.

The Renegades consisted of Winston 'Pipe' Matthews, Lloyd 'Bread' McDonald and George 'Buddy' Haye and later became a group called the Wailing Souls. ‘You've Lost The Love’ is one of their earliest Rocksteady works and it was originally released in 1966. It is also one of the rarest records hardly ever found. The record also features previously unreleased Ska vocal recording ' Rude Boy A Wail' by the Merritone Singers from the original master tape.

This is a Rocksteady cut of the Zodiacs' 'Walk On By' released in 1967. They recorded the original Ska cut at Duke Reid's Treasure Isle. Rare Rocksteady classic with beautiful harmonies on a profound rhythm. On the B-side, this previously unreleased material 'House Upon The Hill' features an unknown vocal group called Merritone singers.

Those rare songs did not appear Hopeton Lewis’s classic Rocksteady album Take It Easy. ‘Rock A Shacka’ is truly a Rocksteady classic of all times. It’s a must item for all Rocksteady fans. With his dearest hope, he calmly sings ‘I don’t want no trouble now, no no no. I just can’t take troubles now, no no no. So let’s together in unity, let’s togther in prosperity’ backed by version accompanying heavy bass.
