Jamaica's favorite US northern soul group, Chilites, performs smooth harmonies on an updated version of 'Sleng Teng' rhythm produced by King Jammy's son, JohnJohn, Pad Anthony sings 'Caan Mek We Run Way' on another Jammys classic 'Jump Up' rhythm in his finest style.

ichael Buckley sings 'Test We' on the King Jammy's computerized version of Studio One foundation 'Rock Fort Rock' rhythm where he showcases his low-key voice and unique flow. On the flip side, Colin Roach performs 'Jammy's Lets Cruise' on another Jammys popular 'China Town' rhythm with melodies of the Anthony Malvo's 'Cruisin' and Bob Marley's 'Nice Time'.

As a long-time Orange Street producer, record store owner and then studio owner, Leggo has built a solid catalog of both wicked roots and dancehall, from the 1970's all the way thru the 1990's. For some time we've been huge fans of Leggo's productions, but as collectors we've found many of them inexplicably hard to find.

One of the Redman’s earliest works is a song called ‘When I Release’ by Puddy Roots, who was very active artist during the 80’s. You would be convinced that King Tubby was a part of this production when the tune sounds real heavy with Puddy’s impressive singing style.

‘The Ruler’ by Gregory Isaacs was only available for listening on a LP album “Reggae Sound War: Electrocutioner Vol.2”. The reggae crooner gently buries idiot sound bwoys with his killer lyrics and stand tall as the Cool Ruler. Recorded to the same rhythm track ‘Running From Reality’ by Admiral Tibet.

Johnny Osbourne, who recorded many of numerous hit tunes for Jammys, sings a killer number 'Line Up', which is favored by 80's dancehall lovers. On the Side-B, Little John severely performs extraordinary dubplate special 'Come Fe Mash It' on 'Stalag' rhythm.

One of the most famous and popular dubplates from Jammy's vault. Thriller U, who recorded regularly at Jammys, sings on the Dennis Brown's 'Promise Land' rhythm for King Jammys Super Power. And Earl Sixteen performs 'A1 Sound' on 'Trial Crosses' rhythm.

round this time Selassie was a young artist hanging with the Youth Promotion crew as well as Callo's Rythem Track crew. This rugged live-digital (played, not programmed) tune was cut at Music Mountain studios, and to us has a similar vibe as the great live-digital Leggo Sounds releases we put out a while back. "Variety" was until recently very obscure, being released only in NY, on a 12" on the Genesis Music label, operated by a former Bronx record shop.

The late Alton Black was a part of the NY Chopper crew, and one of NY's most popular artists when he cut "Reunited" on Chopper's killer lick of 'billie jean' now well known via Don Hickey's "Cooperate." All fans of the 'lovers digi' micro-genre (ha!) take note, this one should be near the top of your lists.

A mythical tune for all serious digital reggae collectors, finally reissued. The obscure Junior Khadaffy (various spellings!) released only a handful of tunes in the mid-late '80s, but all are fantastic. This one was cut for E&F Studios in the Bronx, ran by the late artist I-Plee. Stereo Fletcher happens to be family to I-Plee, producing several records by the artist for his own labels. But the works went both ways, and Stereo produced this one for release on E&F's in-house label. Slick but killer digital reggae, this one has always reminded us of the production style of Little Kirk's "Weed Them Out", a fantastic arrangement, great vocals and a complex head-nodding rhythm. The original press is extremely rare and the tune is simply too good to remain that way, so here it is, top top top shelf '80s digital, now available for all.

Courtney Melody jumped on it, a rare outing for the artist on a full live-band Channel 1-cut riddim! But "Watching You" shows how Mr. Melody can ride this kind of riddim just as well as ever.

Philip Myers released only a handful of tunes in the second half of the 1980's, and among them was this now very rare 45 from 1985. The lone release on Daniel Senior's Junior Militant label, based out of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, this tough digital cut features lyrics about babylon coming to mash up your dance. Arranged by Noel Davey (legend has it, before the release of sleng teng!), this tune perfectly captures the digital dancehall sound just being born, and proves yet again that so many killer tunes were bubbling under but never made it into the spotlight. Thankfully, this huge tune is now back on the street, rescued from rarity and obscurity, and ready to receive its due!

Robert Lee was also one of demanded singers at Jammys because of his musical characteristic - 'Out of Key' style. Here King Tubby produced 'Tempo' rhythm was rearranged by Jammys and it allowed Robert Lee to perform calmly with his aggressive lyrical expression for creating another killer song.

Robert Lee and Bunny General adopted the phrase of a classic song 'Midnight Hour' by Sivertones in their combination song 'Midnight House'. The original press was only available by 12" single vinyl on Unity label.

The "Tempo" rhythm is considered one of the historical rhythms in the golden period of dancehall and it was apparently an answer rhythm to Jammys "Sleng Teng" rhythm."Love It A Kill Me" by John Wayne is probably the most sought after and popular cut on the rhythm and the record itself includes a superb dub-version on the side B by the Dub Master, King Tubby. Although the artist does not sing as powerfully as he does on his hit song "Call The Police" he the still displays his unique lyrical flow. Originally, 7inch vinyl record was released on the Kingston 11 label and the 12inch was on the Firehouse label.

Da Da Waps is probably not familiar to many but he recorded many songs, which were mainly included in the Redman produced albums. He sings about the abolished slavery on this digital stepper rhythm. This record is highly regarded as one of sought after vinyls among the Redman’s catalogue.

Tony Tuff, who was one of predominant figures in the 80’s dancehall scene, showcases his low-keyed performance and sings about careless people who cannot wash, cook, iron, clean, he warns them to learn something. This speedy bouncy rhythm, which is very similar to Redman’s classic rhythm “Koloko”, symbolizes astonishing sound works of Redman’s rhythm building.

Previously unreleased on 7inch vinyl record. Those two songs were only included in the Redman and Carl Meeks’ classic LP [Weh Dem Fah]. ‘Without Your Love’ was recorded on the famous ‘Wicked Can’t Run Away’ rhythm and ‘Red Eye Lover’ was on the popular Sleng Teng (Computer) rhythm.

Along with the Sleng Teng and Stalag rhythm, King Tubby produced ‘Tempo’ rhythm is considerably one of the most loved dancehall rhythms ever. This record on Tempo rhythm features a soulful love song ‘Run Come’ by roots singer, Junior Delgado and another aggressive song ‘Can’t Ride Computer’ by King Kong.

Admiral Tibet maintained himself as one of forefront cultural singers during the 80’s and the early 90’s. He consciously warns his girl friend about their love relationship with his melodious lyrics. “May be, Might be, Could it be, Girl you are running from reality”

Little John, who was one of the most remarkable figures at various sound system dances for his talent, delivers sorrowful vocal with his distinctive lyrical flow on this song ‘Come Do It To Me’. Recorded to a surging and whirling digital dancehall rhythm track ‘Screechie Across The Border’.

Junior Reid sings 'Puppa Jammys Nice' in Rock 'N' Roll style on this dry and bouncy computerized rhythm while Little John showcases his rhythmical performance on a previously unreleased rhythm, which sounds similar to Jammy's classic 'Love Punanny Bad' rhythm.

Little John praises King Jammys Super Power with his melancholy vocal and serious lyrics. Anthony Malvo and Collin Roach, who both recorded at King Jammys Recording Studio regularly, sings world renowned song 'We Are The World' in combination.

Another crucial dubplate by Nitty Gritty on his hit tune 'Trial And Crosses'. Side-A features Pad Anthony's 'Try A Time' and original dubplate version of 'Trial And Crosses' by Nitty Gritty on the other side. Only some foundation sound systems own and play Nitty Gritty's dubplates as he was shot to death in 1991.

Nitty Gritty updates his major hit song 'Run Round The World' to 'Play Around The World'. This dubplate simply praises King Jammys Super Power and he warns sound boys by singing "Jammys is the sound where play around the world,,, don't test Jammy sound”.

Super Black, one the prominent dancehall singers in 80's, sings his song 'We Rule'　on the Jammys version of 'Stalag' rhythm while Anthony Malvo covers his Digital B hit ‘Sound History' in melody of the Carpenters 'Top Of The World'.

"Swinging My Lover" reminds of another Jammys hit rhythm "Four Season Lover". Junior Reid samples Johnny Clarke's 'Rock With Me Baby' and he expresses his joy on this juggling rhythm. 'Jammys Playing' is an update version of one of his early day classics 'Human Nature' exclusively for King Jammys Super Power.

on Hickey. "Cooperate" is one of his best tunes, on a pure killer digital cut of the 'billie jean' riddim.

From 1986, "Duppy" by The Hax. A tune which blew us away from first listen with its amazingly advanced digital riddim, played live and arranged by Leggo's longtime spar Flabba Holt of the Roots Radics. The Hax, another unsung DKR favorite singer who did most of his recording for Leggo, sings "Duppy", delivering a warning with a killer Waterhouse-style vocal…."nuh go dung deh!"
