Mungo's Hi Fi held a recording session with Sugar Minott in Glasgow in 2009, not knowing　that he would sadly pass away six months later. This record features his raggamuffi n vocal　which has been complemented with Daddy Freddy at his growling best, which he was　proud to record alongside his friend and mentor. The 12" features on one side Mungo's Hi Fi's original dubby smasher, which has been one of their most requested tracks since they started playing it out on dubplate. The other side is their fi rst collaboration with Chimpo, who has pulled out all the stops to take the homage to Zinc's Super Sharp Shooter to the next level.

Mungo's Hi Fi have been following The Hempolics for a while and were glad to get a chance to remix one of their tracks. They picked 'Love to sing' for it's upfull message and joyful sound, bringing in Solo Banton for some heavyweight lyrics in the verses and giving it the Mungo's bass treatment.

Side B features Memphis Soul Rocksteady instrumental, just like a trendy song from Stax Records. Now reissued for the first time with these original recordings on both sides.

In 1966, Bunny Wailer started singing spiritual lyrics before anyone else, and this masterpiece he sung about returning to Africa was written while he was still recording for Studio One. Although it was originally recorded for Studio One, it has never seen the day of light. Then Lee Perry recorded it again and released in 1971. This particular take was recorded especially for the album in 1976 and released from Island Records UK as a single.

Half Pint’s massive hit on Sly & Robbie remake of Heavenless for Powerhouse which pretty much needs no introduction. It is said that this it the first ever tune the word “Raggamuffin” was used and has been praised as the dancehall anthem to date!

Classic ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, the original version of ‘Reggae Rhapsody’, was written by notable American composer and solo pianist George Gershwin in 1924. Nearly 50 years after, in 1973, Eumir Deodato edited the song and released it on CTI Records, which label was favored by Black music fans at that time. Leslie Butler recorded his keyboard version shortly after the release of Eumir Deodato version. This is another rare recording to be reissued for the very first time from the Federal catalogue. Side B features a Reggae fusion instrumental ‘Mystic Mood’ by Willie Lindo. The song became a hit and earned a position in his LP titled ‘Far and Distant’.

Charlie P is a ragamuffin rudeboy youth with a natural talent of music. Since he grew up surrounded by UK-Jamaican culture, reggae was in his blood. Charlie met Mungo’s Hi Fi while he was drawn to soundsystem culture in 2010. Since then they have done countless recording sessions and continuous touring around every corner of the globe. This album is the culmination of this ongoing relationship and brings together the best tracks across the styles that he loves, from roots reggae and dancehall to modern bass music.

Judy Mowatt used to form a group called the Gaylettes in her early career although she is known for touring all over the world as a member of I Threes and the Wailers. 'Silent River Runs Deep' is the most known song and a hit for the group. 'I Like Your World' was also originally released on the A-side of another record released on Merritone label. Those recordings of this double A-sided single are certainly great enduring female Rocksteady songs of all time.

On Keith & Tex' classic tune 'Tonight,' Augustus Pablo's melodica echoes along the entire track mysteriously, while the fascinating female vocalist Fay quotes breathy lines from the popular German soft porn film Bedroom Mazurka. The flip side features Scotty's DJ version to 'Tonight.'
