Keith Hudson - Like I'm Dying / Hudford All Stars - Crying Version

Hudford Records / Dub Store Records JPN 1974

¥1480 (US$9.78)

The vocal cut to Keith Hudson’s epic reggae funk “Melody Maker”. Recorded a couple years after the instrumental this tune must have made a quite a come back.

Augustus Pablo - Stabiliser (Single Take) / Alton Ellis - All We Need Is Love

Stamma / Dub Store Records JPN 1974

¥1480 (US$9.78)

The true genius Keith Hudson introduced highly mutational sounds and sound effects at the time and this Pablo organ cut of “Peter & Judas” is no exception. Slightly different cut to the one included in “Flesh of My Skin Blood of My Blood” known as the monumental and arguably the first reggae concept album that is rated as important as “Blackboard Jungle Dub” in dub music. This cut is the fat original take mixed prior to the LP.

Johnny Clarke - Golden Snake / Little Clive - African Bread

Atom / Dub Store Records JPN 1974

¥1480 (US$9.78)

Very rare rocksteady rhythm pulled by Keith Hudson to record this bold vocal by Johnny Clarke in 1974. On B-side a deejay cut by Randy’s Clive Chin.

Oneil Dyer - Apartment; Dub / Unknown Artist - Hey Natty Dread

Channel One / Digikiller / Deeper Knowledge US

N/A

The Channel 1 Lost & Found series of previously unreleased music continues with more killer ten inches. Oneil Dyer's "Apartment" was only ever issued on a small press blank label Hitbound 10" in New York, unnoticed by all but the most hyper astute collectors. Heavy tune, with a killer dub, serious 1982 Scientist/Radics style. The B-side of this record features an unknown killer roots tune from around the same time, dubplate material which unfortunately on tape carried no markings as to who the singer is. We absolutely love good female-voiced roots and this is no exception, purely wicked tune. If anyone knows who sings this tune, let us know, as no one including some of those folks involved in making the tune could place it! One thing that is clear however is the voice of Sugar Minott on harmony. Unfortunately no dub version was found for this tune.

Keith Hudson - Satan Side / Earl Flute, Horace Andy - Peter & Judas

Mafia / Dub Store Records JPN 1972

¥1480 (US$9.78)

Versions, dubwise, horn riffs and what not ? all of those creative elements made this great tune and it was only Keith Hudson who had an ability to make it all possible. Even if you’re no an ordinary reggae listener you should try this. Apart from Hudson, at this time in Jamaica there was a number of eccentric producers like Lee Perry, Pablo, Niney and co who used their studio like an instrument to create their own sounds.

Don Carlos, Soul Syndicate - Black Harmony / Black Love

Rawse / Digikiller / Deeper Knowledge US 1976

¥1680 (US$11.10)

A long time in the making, part one of a new series of reissues produced by the great Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes. So many Wackie's productions are long among our personal favorites, and some helped introduce us to the wonderful world of Jamaican music. We'll be issuing many now hard to find singles as well as some previously LP-only tracks and other surprises! Our first selection of singles all appear, of course, on their original labels. An NYC/JA collaboration with Wackie's producing an early tune by Don Carlos, originally credited as 'Jah Carlos', over a tough Soul Syndicate rhythm. This one is on the Rawse label.
