The miraculous take of 'Fidel' which never came out back then! This is one of the most killer yet wonderfully tasteful masterpiece out of all the Don Drummond recordings. You wouldn’t call them fans if they didn’t know about ‘Fidel’, however this particular version has only been released on CD in the 90’s when Sir Coxsone compiled the “In Memory Of Don Drummond”. The monumental piece with the well deserved name, ‘Don D Special’ on the flip.

A perfect, yet low-keyed, Studio One Rocksteady double A-sided masterpiece!! Recorded in 1967 while Clement Dodd and Soul Vendors were on tour in the UK. The former Jamaican popular singer Owen Gray, who had already been living there then, voiced these unique pieces. It sounds very different from the ones recorded at Brentford Road, although both tunes certainly have the “Coxsone Sound” – A masterpiece that is refined, and maximize the talent of this one-time star. Only ‘The Raver’ was recorded from the original master-tape.

‘Dance All Night’ is a hit song released by the Tartans, a Rocksteady legendary group that consisted of Prince Lincoln, Cedric Myton, Devon Russell and Lindberg Lewis, in 1966. Emphasized on double basses and piano, the song was made to praise sound system dances and it became one of the good old Rocksteady anthems of the Rude Boy era. On the B-side, the group sings ‘What I can do to save your life’ and warns rude boys for their action.

Master of the Jamaican jazz, Lennie Hibbert, on one to one session with the nyabinghi great Count Ossie. Considering the standard of its time those Gay Feet sessions are somewhat miraculous. Backed by Jamaican soul anthem by Patsy, this record is far from the bloodstream of the time and will surely rated more and more as time goes by.

Extremely rare rocksteady masterpiece recorded in 1967. Curiously sang in Chinese, this novelty record was originally pressed and spread within the Chinese community in Jamaica. Even though comparing to its entire population this island has exceptionally high rate of musical recordings, this could possibly be the only verified track solely sang in Chinese. One that has always been spoken about due to its oddity and should be succeeded eternally.

A pair of traditional Japanese folk music reissues sang by Chiemi Eri, one of the top female Showa star singers along with Hibari Misora, best known for her exotic Latin Jazz covers of Japanese folk music in the late 50’s.

Taken from “Chiemi No Minyoshu (Japanese Folk Songbook of Chiemi)”, 10inch LP released in 1958, two of its popular songs are now being reissued on a 7” format. “Otemoyan” is a splendid combination of Japanese folk song with an Afro Cuban rhythm performed by Tokyo Cuban Boys. Coupled with “Kushimoto Bushi”, a folklore from Wakayama prefecture styled in Mambo music.

A great cover version of a Sam Cook hit with beautiful chorus and a killer instrumental that blended Jamaica’s Caribbean roots and Afro-Cuban essence. Jamaica’s favorite American singer, Sam Cook’s hit was beautifully transformed into a sweet and peaceful vocal Ska when it went through Studio One’s unique filter. The tune was taken straight from the master tape. The flip side features a mixed style of Caribbean-decent music that Soul Brothers could play best at and Jackie Mittoo’s burning keyboard maneuver made this killer instrumental best of the best.

Another smash hit Ska masterpiece by the Blues Busters, the superstar duo who had been dominating the Jamaican pop music industry since the 50’s!! Covering the American hits as their specialty, the popular group had left a number of Jamaican souls, although only a few ska hits. Out of those few, this is undoubtedly another one of the most considerable tunes they had left. An excellent singing melody sparkles on top of the Byron Lee’s iconic softly touched bass line.

Invaluable hard Dancehall steppers by Family Man produced in the twilight of the Digital era.The Ragga sound at its peak after the Digital Revolution, Family Man still remains to be the trusted person of influence. His iconic hard steppers style bass line is non exceptional at this era, so deep like in immovability like a mountain. Ashanti Wah recorded this piece a few times after, however none of them comes even as close as this cut. Officially first time to be released as a single.

Previously unreleased material from Prince Junior – known for his killer digital hit “Crucial Boy” produced by Jammy. Taking in the essence of the aboriginal roots flavor along with Jammy’s rugged bassline, it makes up the melancholic digital roots music. Prince Junior approaches this sound killer forcibly and directly, yet sings up softly to showcase his low-keyed performance skills.

Known for hits like “Rock Them One By One” and “Turn On The Heat”, this is a previously unreleased Eccleton Jarret piece for his stronghold, Jammys.
Seems rather restrained but singing superbly on this energetic yet melodious “Tonight”-ish rhythm that was also adopted for “Rasta People” by Junior Delgado.

Out of all Jammy’s gigantic catalogue, “E20” rhythm could be considered as one of the most destructive ones to date. Jammy found the unreleased track on this rhythm from the vault featuring a familiar face of the 80’s dancehall, King Everal melancholy singing this killer!

Not only reggae fans have been after the reissue of this lovers roots classic. “Unity, Love and Strength” starts with smooth piano into sweet dramatic vocal piece backed by the Wailers band. Horace Andy’s falsetto is the perfect touch to this masterpiece.

Although this Tubby’s version has never been released, “Nothing Don’t Come Easy” ended up being a big hit at Jammys and still been praised today. It’s the mid 80’s interpretation of 70’s roots reggae atmosphere. Hats off to the King!

Tubbys, as well as Jammys tunes after the digital revolution, you can find many that sounds great but not all of them will stick to your heart forever. However this Michael Prophet digi killer comes with absolute presence and confidence reflecting his true soul.

Being known as Crown Prince of Reggae, this is Dennis Brown's commemorated first single and it was written and composed by Dennis himself. This is, of course, before he started recording at Studio One and is one of his best heartwarming songs. Crystalites' killer keyboard instrumental is featured on B-side and has been admired to listeners who have great appreciation for 1969-70’s up-tempo instrumentals.

One of the best cover versions of a Philadelphia Soul classic, "People Makes The World Go Round" is performed by Chosen Few, who were idolizing The Stylistics so much. The flip side “Brown Baby" is another Funky Reggae vocal sang by the producer Derrick Harriott himself

It is impossible not to mention Admiral Tibet when talking about Jammy’s golden digital era in the 80’s. With hits like “Running From Reality” and “Reality Time”, this is indeed another killer piece he recorded for Jammy. Working in combination with a jaunty rhythm with rough and tough bassline, the vocal instantly becomes prominent with its unforgettable chorus bringing even more drive to the music. When listening to the version on the flip, there is a great appreciation for utter simplicity in how Jammy builds his rhythms.

Nothing happens without Chuck Turner on those Jammy’s melancholic digital rhythms. Although his compatibility is easily proven on tunes like “We Rule Dancehall” and “Run Around Girl”, this piece sits on top of everything. With his pleasantly different falset voice, Chuck Turner soulfully sings on this exquisite rhythm with significant melody. This brilliant music has even got a slight feeling of a modern piece - that is exactly when you realise the Jammy’s magic touch

Both sides released on single for first time. On A side the title track from Tinga Stewart’s 88 album, a strong declaration from the man who keeps everything straight. On flip a killer vocal from Echo Minott originally included in his masterpiece “What The Hell” LP and it’s a different cut to “Super Black – One Time Girlfriend”.

Although Super Black is known for his hits "Deh Wid You", "Rambo We Rambo" at Jammys, the artist also fit well with the Photographer label where he put out a superb song "Just Like A Magic". Among the 80's catalogue of King Tubby, "Rising Star" is very exceptional and features a unique groove, which is created by the solid bass line to bring out the best of Super Black's appealing voice.

Super Black, who had very characteristic voice like Wayne Smith and Pad Anthony, released a few memorable songs in the late 80’s. Using his voice as a weapon, here he openly sings about his love relationship with his ex-girl friend.

Since the early dancehall period, Echo Minott aka Noel Phillips recorded some songs for King Jammy. After having a hit single ‘Murder Weapon’ on the Signet label in 1992, the deejay became absent in the business and away from Jamaica for nearly 2 year. But he came back to the scene with another hit ‘I Am Back’ produced by King Jammy.

Little John, who was one of the most remarkable figures at various sound system dances for his talent, delivers sorrowful vocal with his distinctive lyrical flow on this song ‘Come Do It To Me’. Recorded to a surging and whirling digital dancehall rhythm track ‘Screechie Across The Border’.
