Recorded on the same session as ‘Last Call’ that Don Drummond was in charge, here we have two alternative takes of a seriously killer instrumental Ska which was featured as the introduction of the iconic Ska album “Ska Authentic Volume 2” Like ‘Freedom Sounds’ and other recordings made in the same period, the excavation and releasing of these tunes are much more important for Dub Store Records than the significance of the historic discovery of Pyramid! This is one extremely important and precious piece to complete the puzzle of the mystery of the late genius, Don Drummond and the magnificent tune for deep diggers of Reggae music. What a great Skatalites! What makes even cooler about this tune is that if you listen carefully for both sides, you will realize that each player is not playing a score at all; they all are improvising. It proves that they are undoubtedly the best Jamaican band of all time.

Recorded in 1973 accompanied by the Wailers, this truly rare masterpiece was fronted by Don Hutson, an executive of the severe Rastafarian organization, Twelve Tribes of Israel. Produced by former Jamaican National Football Team player, Allan ‘Skill’ Cole, it was released by Tuff Gong in 1973 and known as an extremely rare shot that collectors have been searching for all over the place. This beautifully sparkling classic spiritual reggae piece is undoubtedly one of the top 10s released in 1973. If you love reggae, we presume that you won’t be able to avoid this masterpiece.

Known for hits like “Rock Them One By One” and “Turn On The Heat”, this is a previously unreleased Eccleton Jarret piece for his stronghold, Jammys.
Seems rather restrained but singing superbly on this energetic yet melodious “Tonight”-ish rhythm that was also adopted for “Rasta People” by Junior Delgado.

‘Dance All Night’ is a hit song released by the Tartans, a Rocksteady legendary group that consisted of Prince Lincoln, Cedric Myton, Devon Russell and Lindberg Lewis, in 1966. Emphasized on double basses and piano, the song was made to praise sound system dances and it became one of the good old Rocksteady anthems of the Rude Boy era. On the B-side, the group sings ‘What I can do to save your life’ and warns rude boys for their action.

Both sides are extremely rare unreleased takes of ska instrumentals by Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook and the Soul Brothers. Sca-Balena is a famous cover in which you can enjoy the brilliance of Roland Alphonso, and a completely new latin take of “Two For One” originally played by Tommy McCook. It is really hard to expect what will come out of the warehouse of well-established label like Studio One, although Sir Coxsone knew exactly where everything was being placed. We’re sorry that the “Bridge View” is a misprint instead of “Two For One” Both have been recorded from the original master-tapes.

The miraculous take of 'Fidel' which never came out back then! This is one of the most killer yet wonderfully tasteful masterpiece out of all the Don Drummond recordings. You wouldn’t call them fans if they didn’t know about ‘Fidel’, however this particular version has only been released on CD in the 90’s when Sir Coxsone compiled the “In Memory Of Don Drummond”. The monumental piece with the well deserved name, ‘Don D Special’ on the flip.

'Life Line' a gentle, haunting love song showcasing Bunny's sublime vocals over a subtle, restrained rhythm encapsulates in just over two minutes more than many lesser artists manage to express over an entire double album. Big Youth’s plea for tolerance and understanding, one of his two essential cuts of Bunny’s 'Bide Up', was originally released as a double sided single and is one of the hardest to find records on the Solomonic label. Joe Higgs was a mentor for many young artists and taught them how to sing as well as about the recording industry. Many followed and learned his lessens and passed it on to coming generations. ‘You Hurt My Soul’ is one of his early recordings with his distinctive singing style. Side B is Merritone cut to the classic reggae instrumental ‘Bad Treatment’. The recordings were released in 1968 and reissued from the original master tape.

This vocal group called the Tartans was indeed a Rocksteady dream group that consisted of Prince Lincoln, Cedric Myton, Devon Russell and Berg Lewis. The veterans worked on this fine love song ‘Real Gone Sweet’ in their early career. Their energetic performance can be fully heard on their sweet harmonies.

A fine vocal Rocksteady'All Night'is known as a killer dubplate owned by Duke Vin, who is regarded as a pioneer of sound system culture in UK. The flip side'The Ticker'was more popular than the A-side and in UK, allegedly no one else besides Duke Vin owned the vinyl until 90's. The song must have been a special attachment in his Dub Plate box.

From rudeboy era of the early Merritone label, this is an elegant and refreshing instrumental Ska backed with a rudeboy vocal in pre-Rocksteady style. The A-side is an unusual instrumental Ska recorded remarkably at the Federal studio by the Studio One’s iconic session band the Soul Brothers. The B-side is a debut song by Laxton Ford who only recorded a very few pieces during his career. The lyric is built upon proverbs, which is a popular theme amongst Jamaicans. Recorded directly from the master-tape.

The Cannonball Adderley’s famous Jazz classic beautifully covered into Afro Caribbean Jazz masterpiece. This precious piece digs into depth of the Jamaican music to show unique side of the history. Due to their regular appearances in hotels at Montego Bay, it is reasonable to understand that the band had a range of repertoire other than Ska. The MC's hype heard right after the riff interprets the excitement of the session and creates a great atmosphere. Matching the original release, backed with a prime Jamaican Soul by talented Busty Brown who later recorded with Lee Perry.

A prominent singer backed by none other than the Skatalites, it is a symbolic Ska beat representing Kentone which will make everyone a smile. Although the Maytals have recorded Ska tunes for Studio One, Prince Buster and many more, they might have taken a further step when recording for the Jamaican music industry’s godfather, Ken Kouri by singing it well tight and fiery. Even for the Federal side, it must have been quite special to hire the Skatalites for this project. One minute and half might be a little too short for an A side, though this one will make you want to slip it in your DJ box every time.

Invaluable hard Dancehall steppers by Family Man produced in the twilight of the Digital era.The Ragga sound at its peak after the Digital Revolution, Family Man still remains to be the trusted person of influence. His iconic hard steppers style bass line is non exceptional at this era, so deep like in immovability like a mountain. Ashanti Wah recorded this piece a few times after, however none of them comes even as close as this cut. Officially first time to be released as a single.

If you mention Baba Brooks, most people would think this tune or “Shank I Sheck”. Even though the recording tape itself was hard to come by these days, we managed to include a previously unreleased alternative take from the master tape.

An experimental and minimalistic early dub instrumental joined by the Soul Syndicate drummer, Max Edwards. Music without commercialism – this minimalistic and repetitive dub instrumental shows the unique musical structure by one of the most future-oriented arrangers, the great Familyman.

The vocal cut to Keith Hudson’s epic reggae funk “Melody Maker”. Recorded a couple years after the instrumental this tune must have made a quite a come back.

Out of all those China lead Soul Syndicate vocals this one has to be the tightest although here the rare flute instrumental is the business. At the time Keith Hudson had the original JA funk sounds going on in his rhythms.

Some may call it the original sound tune! This deejay cut strongly represent the new era of reggae music during 1969-70 with a string of new producers landing with serious hits. “Dynamic Fashion” would definitely be one of the top three U-Roy early classics.

The true genius Keith Hudson introduced highly mutational sounds and sound effects at the time and this Pablo organ cut of “Peter & Judas” is no exception. Slightly different cut to the one included in “Flesh of My Skin Blood of My Blood” known as the monumental and arguably the first reggae concept album that is rated as important as “Blackboard Jungle Dub” in dub music. This cut is the fat original take mixed prior to the LP.

Even after releasing the legendary “Sleng Teng” rhythm, King Jammy continued to produce hits after hits such as “Punnany”, “Duck” and many more. There is no doubt that he was at the top of the digital dancehall scene back then. Although he had put out an uncountable number of releases towards the end of the 80’s, this is one of the popular and rare tunes among record collectors. Beautifully sang in falset by Cornell Campbell on this melancholic digital rhythm makes it an excellent masterpiece.

One of the most accomplished producers of Dancehall era, Philip 'Fatis' Burrell who launched Vena label in the 80's and succeeded onto Xterminator until milleniums. Dub Store Records are delighted to present his highly sought after Dancehall materials to the world. This is a killer cut from "Nitty Gritty - Mulfunction" segment, Delroy Katt singing in well-trained voice riding on nimble and firing rhythm.

Long-expected reissue of Delroy Katt’s killer digital for Vena. This popular rhythm also featured the likes of Ricky Chaplin and Daddy Freddy. On this tune Delroy sings subdued but with sure presence showcasing the highly skilled performance.

Legendary dancehall artist, Nitty Gritty's unarguable digital killer for Vena! Glamorous out of key style in the proper 80's manner, along with Delroy Katt and Sanchez this cut is a must have, regardless.

Known for his work for Firehouse in the 80's, here comes a long expected reissue of Trevor Levy's lyrically appealing piece. Soulfully singing upon a heavy bouncy rhythm, the structure is simple and that's why it's timeless.

Chuck Turner has recorded his impressive songs at Jammys such as 'I Need You' and 'Run Around Girl'. 'We Rule The Dancehall' is one of those and this tough steppers rhythm was build by notable Steelie & Clivie. His melancholy voice is something very contrary to his aggressive lyrics but that's something it makes this record attractive.

Prince Junior’s ‘Crucial Boy’ appeared　on the King Jammy’s classic LP [Prince Jammy Presents VOL. 2]. Although he recorded a few songs for King Jammy in 1986, much information about the artist remains unknown. However, this ‘crucial ’song preaches equal rights, Justice and Love & Unity over his high-pitched weeping voice with his conscious and profound lyrics.

Wayne Smith’s ‘My Sweet Love’ is still gaining its reputation and popularity by the 80’s dancehall listeners nowadays. This Jammys’ distinguishing digital sound can be characterized by its wavy base melody so Wayne Smith’s vocal and lyrics can perfectly fits to the rhythm to make his sweet love song convincing.

A few titles has been released on Suguar Minott’s ‘Conscious Lover’ rhythm but ‘Sugar Me’ by Conroy Smith is one of the most wanted records on the rhythm among collectors. On this smooth drifting rhythm, he sings mournfully but also with his sweet lyrics.
