A perfect, yet low-keyed, Studio One Rocksteady double A-sided masterpiece!! Recorded in 1967 while Clement Dodd and Soul Vendors were on tour in the UK. The former Jamaican popular singer Owen Gray, who had already been living there then, voiced these unique pieces. It sounds very different from the ones recorded at Brentford Road, although both tunes certainly have the “Coxsone Sound” – A masterpiece that is refined, and maximize the talent of this one-time star. Only ‘The Raver’ was recorded from the original master-tape.

By Keith & Tex, a vocal duo who represented Derrick Harriott's production, 「Hypnotizing Eyes」 was a hugely popular tune released at the end of Rocksteady era. The B-side,「Down The Street」was a pioneering sound of up-tempo Reggae that became the major style in 1969. From 1968 to 69, they recorded enough songs to make an album and amazingly all of them were top-notch. Re-issued original songs on both sides.

Another enduring Rocksteady instrumental masterpiece by Bobby Ellis and Derrick Harriott’s timeless love song echoes sweet and bitter. Cool and dark ‘Step Softly’ is one of the most signature songs for Bobby Ellis and the greatest Rocksteady instrumental of all. The flip side is a best example of Harriott’s distinctive sound in Rocksteady era. The set of recordings are now reissued with original songs on both side.

A star duo at the Harriott’s production, Keith & Tex’s‘Tonight’is also the everlasting masterpiece in the history of Reggae music. There were many essential songs in his production from 1967 to 68 but‘Tonight’is obviously the most indispensable one. Lynn Tait plays a beautiful instrumental version to Melodians’ hit ‘You’ve Caught Me’ on the flip side. Reissued with these original recordings on both sides.

As Junior Soul, Junior Murvin recorded definitely the greatest Rocksteady tune,「Glendevon Special」 on early days of his recording career. This tune is also unique among Derrick Harriott's catalog and it proves how wide varieties his production was. This song is rare that many collectors have been looking for years.

The both-sided killer Ska instrumental masterpiece - all Ska collectors have been searching for! The Skatalites playing the theme of James Bond’s “From Russia With Love” is a true Ska instrumental masterpiece, which needs no introduction. Josey Wales ‘s ‘Water Come A Mi Eye’ on another Jammy’s popular rhythm ‘Love Punaany Bad’ starts with a flight attendant (Josey himself) welcoming boarding people to New York. He drops his tears as he experiences hard times in New York. Although Admiral Bailey is well known for his massive hit ‘Punanny’ at the Jammys and lyrical content, the deejay bring a rough badman anthem with ‘Me A The Danger’ this time.

Little John, who was one of the most remarkable figures at various sound system dances for his talent, delivers sorrowful vocal with his distinctive lyrical flow on this song ‘Come Do It To Me’. Recorded to a surging and whirling digital dancehall rhythm track ‘Screechie Across The Border’.

Wayne Smith scored numerous hits at Jammys and one well known is 'Under Mi Sleng Teng'. He also released same title album 'Under Mi Sleng Teng' where he showcased wavy & choppy 'E20' and crisp & clear song 'In Thing' on further computerized [Barrington Levy - Come] rhythm.

Nitty Gritty output his hit songs like 'Hog In A Minty' and 'Run Down The World' at Jammys and he had chemistry with minor chord digital rhythms. 'Good Morning Teacher' on 'Stalag' rhythm is a superb song showcases his unique vocal style and lyrics.

Now veteran deejay Kirk Davis who started his career as Little Kirk back in the 80's, since then he has been on his move. Known for his major songs: 'Screechie Across The Border' and 'Ghetto People Broke', also one of those is 'Don't Touch The Crack'. A tough digital steppers cut.

Redman has versioned one of the most popular dancehall rhythm of 80’s, “Stalag” to create another unique sound. This track allowed Wayne Palmer to pass his tender lyricisms with his melancholy melodies to listeners.

Dave Bailey’s ‘Concrete Jungle’ within the Redman’s catalogue is considerably one of the most popular tunes. It’s not only an ordinary digital dancehall track, but also roots flavor added to this speedy edgy rhythm where Dave Bailey showcases his cool & smooth vocal to make this tune a killer!

‘Runnings’ by Dave Bailey begins with very rough & tough melodic elevation. This is certainly one of his classic songs! The strong digital track, which was created by magic hands of Redman with profound roots in essence, matches perfectly to Dave Bailey’s melancholy vocal.

Previously unreleased on 7inch vinyl record. Those two songs were only included in the Redman and Carl Meeks’ classic LP [Weh Dem Fah]. ‘Without Your Love’ was recorded on the famous ‘Wicked Can’t Run Away’ rhythm and ‘Red Eye Lover’ was on the popular Sleng Teng (Computer) rhythm.

Originally, ‘Like A Dragon’ came out the Wayne Smith’s classical album [Undewr Mi Sleng Teng] while Dennis Brown’s ‘History’ on the flip side appeared in an album entitled ‘History’on the Live & Love label. Both titles are previously unreleased on 7inch vinyl record.

Wayne Smith’s ‘My Sweet Love’ is still gaining its reputation and popularity by the 80’s dancehall listeners nowadays. This Jammys’ distinguishing digital sound can be characterized by its wavy base melody so Wayne Smith’s vocal and lyrics can perfectly fits to the rhythm to make his sweet love song convincing.

Super Black, who had very characteristic voice like Wayne Smith and Pad Anthony, released a few memorable songs in the late 80’s. Using his voice as a weapon, here he openly sings about his love relationship with his ex-girl friend.

An unreleased track recorded for Jammy by the veteran Michael Rose who has been active at the forefront of reggae music since roots era to date. Just like his other hit tunes, the exceptional melody sense with tough yet sexy voice on remake of the ever glorious Yabby You’s “King Pharaoh’s Plague”, naturally absorbs every listener from start.

A fundamental album released in 1966 that determined the way Rocksteady was going to journey. In 1966, Rude Boys were at the peak of the fame with their notorious behaviors, while Ska gradually started to slow down its tempo, this album paved the way for a newborn music, Rocksteady with rather slower and tighter rhythm approach. This album should be picked one of 10 pieces of the most important album of Reggae history.
